Our story
APG Solar is the trading name of Alternate Power Generation, a solar and electrical company based in Darwin. It is run by Shane and Duncan, both electricians, with over 20 years in the trade behind them.
After 15 years of electrical work in the Northern Territory, they kept seeing the same two things go wrong: jobs that were not organised properly, and customers who could not get anyone back once the invoice was paid. APG Solar was set up to do both properly.
The company handles the design, the supply, the installation, the commissioning and the monitoring in house. There is nobody to hand a customer off to, and after service is part of the job rather than a favour.
APG Solar is a proudly local Northern Territory business, working across all regions of the NT.
The directors
Director
Shane is a Darwin local who started his electrical career in rural Western Australia, where five years of work included solar PV in remote Aboriginal communities with companies such as Horizon Power. He then moved back to the Northern Territory, where he has been an electrical contractor for over 15 years before starting APG Solar.
Director
Duncan is based in Palmerston and has over 20 years of electrical experience across maintenance, construction and solar, working in domestic, commercial, industrial and oil and gas construction. He moved into solar in 2018 and has since worked on domestic, commercial and large scale solar projects.
On larger jobs the company works with the same electrical engineers, structural engineers, automation engineers, refrigeration mechanics and roofing teams each time, rather than whoever happens to be available.
